Session #84 · 1955–57

Speech #840114364

Mr. Speaker. I have today joined a number of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and introduced a bill authorizing the establishment of import quotas by the United States Tariff Commission under conditions set forth in the bill. This import quota bill. previously introduced by the gentleman from Georgia . appeals to me for several reasons and I am therefore ready and happy to cosponsor it. Mr. Speaker. American industry and those working in the manufacturing establishments. on the farms. in the fisheries and mines of this country do need protection against products imported from abroad for one very simple and obvious reason.
