Session #84 · 1955–57

Speech #840099883

He is the employment security administrator for New Hampshire. having charge of unemployment compensation. So he has been very deeply immersed in all labor problems there. He was examined in 2 or 3 sessions of the subcommittee. I think the distinguished Senator from Illinois was satisfied on that point. He certainly did not vote against reporting the nomination. The Senator from Arizona and I both thought Mr. Brown was extraordinarily qualified. and we liked the way he cheerfully answered questions concerning wage rates and concerning the Canadian immigration question. We thought he showed a masterly understanding of the problem. Some people may not agree with his conclusions.
