The bill would also amend the present law to make it mandatory for the Secretary to obtain information on the availability of domestic workers and the wage rates paid to them by agricultural employers and farmworkers employed in the area where a shortage of domestic workers is reported to exist. The Secretary would then see to it that notices are displayed in public places giving the number of workers to be imported and other information on this subject. Extension of the Mexican Labor Act has been recommended by the Department of Labor. the Department of Agriculture. and the Immigration and Naturalization Services of the Department of Justice.
