Session #83 · 1953–55

Speech #830110674

Mr. Speaker. I did not understand there was to be a suspension. I thought it was a unanimous consent request that was to be made. As I understand. the measure about which the acting chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary spoke to me involves the waiving of certain requirements for immigration matters in hardship cases. It is my understanding that there might be an objection to it. but we thought that we might explore that situation and if there is objection. then certainly there would be a further consultation before any effort would be made to suspend the rules.
