Bulgaria. and Albania. and in Latvia. Lithuania. and Estonianations that fell to Soviet aggression earlyand do everything it can to give them courage and hope. I was very much pleased the other day to note that the President made available an additional $50 million to aid the Government of West Germany in its problems of meeting the needs of the refugees who have streamed across the border from Eastern Germany into Western Germany. I submit that every action we take now to uphold the hand of the West German Republic and to strengthen the forces of freedom in that country will be most valuable to our foreign policy and to the peace of the world. The German people in East Germany are proving themselves to be very strong and powerful forces for freedom and independence. and I think they are setting an example which is causing loud reverberations throughout the world.
