Session #83 · 1953–55

Speech #830000255

SABATH. will miss him during this new session. We shall miss his familiar face. his kind words. and most of all his sound advice. We shall miss his inspiring leadership and his wisdom. his experience and knowledge of men and affairs. his great devotion and ardent patriotism to the United States. which received him as an immigrant boy back in 1881 and afforded him the opportunity to rise to great heights of national distinction. Few mortal men are privileged to reach the venerable age of four score and six. and fewer still attain such an incomparable record of achievement and service to our Nation as did our late colleague. He has given the American people long and distinguished service which is recorded in the annals of Congress.
