That is for the reason that under the present law. and under the McCarran bill. 44 percent of the entire quota is assigned to Great Britain. The countries of southern and eastern Europe have all oversubscribed their quotas. The figure is remarkable. when we realize that 44 percent of the quota of those eligible to come to this country is assigned to Great Britain. and that only 47 percent of the entire quota have actually immigrated to this country. When the quotas of so many nations are oversubscribed. the inequity of the entire bl is pointed up. That has. been my argument all along.
