Session #82 · 1951–53

Speech #820214041

The Senator from Rhode Island is correct. We keep down the number of immigrants but we pool the quotas which are available. We remove racial discriminations and provide for family immigration. I ask those in opposition. who may wish to vote against the substitute bill. to bring forth a legitimate argument against it. It is a reasonable. conservative. and middleground proposal. It would give us a basically reasonable immigration policy. It makes good sense. and it meets the needs of every group in the country which has cried out for relief. I yield 20 minutes to the Senator from Oregon.
