In these United States they came as immigrants. and were forced to live in the hovels. the tenements. and on the wrong side of the tracks. With their fierce determination they drove their way forward and upward. not seeking Government aid. not seeking help from their neighbors or from organized charity. They became pillars in the community life where they lived.
