Session #80 · 1947–49

Speech #800198393

Thirtythree Jewish people of this camp out of thirtyfour polled by me wanted to go to Palestine. I may say to the gentleman that there were very few who wanted to come to the United States. The bulk of them wanted to go to Great Britain. Australia. Belgium. Canada. and other places. We were a poor fifth in the list of countries the DPs wanted to go to because many nations had recruiting teams over there In the camps soliciting the DPs trying to .get them to immigrate to their respective countries. We were dilatory on this particular subject insofar as our country was concerned.
