Of course. everyone in these other countries thinks this is the only spot left where there is freedom. liberty. and independence. We want to keep It that way. If the bill as introduced by the gentleman from Maine permits these displaced persons to come into the United States under the quota system and if they are to be properly screened so that we know that they are proper people to come into our country and remain here. then I should not oppose the bill. It must not be in an increase of our quota system. However. I want the people of America.to know that so far as my vote is concerned I am not going to throw the doors wide open and permit AmerIca to be the dumping place for all humanity.
