So I added another question and I asked: "Have you been consulted by any Federal agency concerning your labor requirements for 1947?" Two said they were consulted and told them they would not need any. Every one of the other answerers replied: "We were not consulted." This goes to show that the men down In the Department of Agriculture have strenuously misrepresented the case. It is not true that the farmers want this help because they are cheap. I have seen man and wife migrants from Florida digging potatoes in my district getting $30 a day. I have seen Puerto Ricans and Jamaicans getting $16 a day picking cherries. Mr.
