President Truman was given a most forthright report by former Immigration Commissioner Earl Harrison. whom he sent on a special mission to Europe to investigate the condition of displaced persons. Mr. Harrisons report so shocked the President that he personally sent a letter through Secretary of State Byrnes to Prime Minister Attlee. recommending that 100.000 of the unfortunate Jews who still are in concentration camps be sent to Palestine mmediately.
