Session #79 · 1945–47

Speech #790053561

The specific cases are all persons born in the United States. whose parent or parents may have been either Americanborn or naturalized citizens. We are not talking about foreigners. They are people who were taken to foreign countries when they were minors. We are not even talking about Americans who went abroad after reaching the age of majority. We do not know how many there are. but they are all Americanborn. It is my judgment. as I told you. that possibly a few hundred may avail themselves of this legislation. They are Americans who have not in any way taken allegiance to any foreign powers. or have done anything to indicate their interest in a foreign government.
