Session #78 · 1943–45

Speech #780256711

There are probably 50 or perhaps a hundred boys who are actually in combat duty whom this bill would relieve in the matter of their becoming American citizens. They must go through the hazards of fighting in battle. and should be assisted in the way the bill assists them to become American citizens. Every one who has considered the bill. including members of the Committee on Immigration consider it to be a very good bill. The American Legion. the Veterans of Foreign Wars. the Disabled Veterans favor the bill. Many other requests have come not only from my State but from other States. that the bill pass.
