Session #78 · 1943–45

Speech #780160769

We believe there are thousands of Japanese who. by their conduct during this war. who by their writings. who by their statements have in fact expatriated themselves. We want the law to apply to those people. We are providing the mechanics whereby any court that handles naturalization matters can conduct a hearing and make a determination that a man has in fact wiped out his citizenship by his written statements. by his oral statements. or by his conduct. That is all there is to the bill as I propose to amend it. We can see no objection to the amendment which we wish to offer to make the bill effective.
