Session #78 · 1943–45

Speech #780134866

I thank the Senator from Tennessee for yielding to me. In the Appropriations Committee and on the floor of the Senate. I have been. as I now am. very much interested in how our American labor shall be protected in the period following the war. We all knowit is no secretthat many persons have been imported into this country under the pretext that they are refugees. and that undoubtedly many of those persons are to remain in this country. That seems to be the program. It is not a program which meets with my approval at all. and I would vote against it at any time and at any place. and would do anything within my power to block it.
