Session #78 · 1943–45

Speech #780072435

I do not intend to criticize anybody unfairly. but this sniping. these unnecessary objections. instead of helping the committee work out its program for the benefit of all the people. just retard its work. This was best illustrated by what I stated the earlier part of this afternoon. The Committee on Immigration and Naturalization did not have an opportunity to study many problems that have arisen within the last 35 years. There are a lot of things we would like to know. There are 4.000.000 or 5.000.000 aliens in this country. and we should like to find out what we are going to do with them and how to segregate the good from the bad.
