Mr. Speaker. under the Smith Act passed several years ago. the Attorney General was directed to file a report to the Congress within the first 10 days of each session with regard to the cases that would come under the provisions of the Smith Act. In his report he has to state all the facts of each individual case and the reasons why he had stayed deportation. The committee felt that he should be permitted to file his report at any time during the session. We want the reports made to the Congress twice a month as to what the Attorney General does with these hardship cases so that the Congress may be acquainted with what is being done with them.
