Session #77 · 1941–43

Speech #770194922

Mr. Speaker. in yesterdays Star were two columns by distinguished columnists who took the Attorney General of the United States to task for ordering the deportation of Harry Bridges. . Miss DorothyThompson. in her On the Record column. calls the order silly. This is but another illustration of the lengths to which some of our friends of the fourth estate go in such matters. It may be stated positively without fear of successful controversion that this order .of the Attorney General was based solely upon the law and the evidence and written because of a high sense of duty to interpret and enforce the law as we wrote it.
