Session #77 · 1941–43

Speech #770151129

Mr. Chairman. at first I was rather disturbed about certain provisions in this bill because the Judiciary Committee has undertaken to legislate on matters dealing with the naturalization of persons serving in the armed forces of the United States during the present war. This is a problem which should be. and has been. considered by the proper committee handling legislation dealing with naturalization. namely. the Committee on Immigration and Naturalization. However. I shall support this measure. My committee has reported a similar bill. which was placed on the consent calendar a few weeks ago. When that bill is called on the consent calendar I will ask that it be withdrawn.
