Session #77 · 1941–43

Speech #770071951

We have the law. but unfortunately the countries to which these men should be deported refuse to accept them because of war conditions and existing treaties. The Judiciary Committee is trying to correct this by H. R. 3. as I have explained. Mr. Speaker. with respect to the bill under consideration. as I have stated. it appears to me that labor organizations are unnecessarily alarmed as to the effect of this bill. because they have been opposed to the granting of a rule. However. I know that there are organizations apart from labor organizations which are also opposed to this bill that have not directly shown their hands or gone on record.
