Session #76 · 1939–41

Speech #760277316

Chairman. for the purpose of asking some questions of the chairman of the committee and the gentleman from Kansas . the real author of the bill. When I questioned the distinguished gentleman from Kansas heretofore today. he indicated that the objections that were made by the American coalition had been practically met. As I understand. the amendments offered by the committee do not meet any of the objections offered by the coalition. The amendments offered are only those more or less clerical changes like the substitution of the words "Department of Justice" for "Department of Labor." because the Bureau of Naturalization has been transferred from the Department of Labor to the Department of Justice.
