Four times the Immigration Committee has had this bill before it. and each time a vote was taken either upon the bill as a whole or upon some phase of the legislationand let It be said to the eternal credit of that committee that in spite of all the pressure that has been brought to bear to stop this bill. the committee never wavered in the least. When the roll is called today. I think you will still find every member of the committee standing behind the bill except two. The Immigration Committee went afmost in a body to the Rules Committee and that fine committee also took a coura-. geous position and granted a rule by a unanimous vote to bring the bill to the floor of the House.
