Session #76 · 1939–41

Speech #760229065

Out of the hundreds of telegrams and letters that I have received protesting the passage of this bill I will tax the RECORD with but a few: We vigorously urge the House Rules Committee to reject and bury H. R. 9766. The matter of the deportation of Harry Bridges has been acted upon by the recognized judicial bodies of this country and his innocence has been duly established. For your committee now to recommend any action contrary to the decision handed down by those judicial bodies would. in our opinion. be a .miscarriage of justice and a violation of basic democratic principles.
