Session #76 · 1939–41

Speech #760222341

The bill Is changed from the one that was passed in the date that they must have declared their intention to become a citizen. That date now is previous to the time the Social Security Act went into effect. so that they cannot now qualify and declare their intention in order to come in under the provisions of the Social Security Act. Our committee protected that. They must have made their declaration before that date. I consider that this bill. having once passed the House without that amendment which protects the social security. and having received the unanimous support of the members of the Committee on Immigration and Naturalization. should be passed at this time. I see no objection to this bill.
