Whether or not the Senate wants to go to the extent provided in the amendment of the Senator from North Carolina is a question for the decision of the Senate. Personally. I. do not think we ought to go that far until it is determined whether or not the alien is subject to deportation. If he is. the question becomes moot as to him. if he is not subject to deportation. but is to remain a part of our people and a part of our life. then. undoubtedly. he is entitled to earn a living.
