Of course. if a wrongdoer is a citizen. he is here. and we can do nothing about it except to punish him. But the Government of the United States is under no obligation whatever to permit any alien to live in the United States for 20 minutes unless it desires to do so. All aliens are in the United States at the sufferance of the Government. and if the United States wants to provide that all aliens with red hair shall be deported. it has a perfect right to do so. If the Government wishes to say. "We do not like any aliens under 6 feet 2 inches tall." it has a perfect right to do so. Of course the illustrations which I have used are absurdities.
