Session #76 · 1939–41

Speech #760168815

I am 100 percent in favor of his proposal. I had high hopes that his bill could be passed. although it was not as drastic as the one I introduced about 2 years ago. I have had pending before the Senate Committee on Immigration a bill which would bring about the mandatory registration and fingerprinting of all aliens in the United States. I never have been able to get the bill reported upon. and when the able junior Senator from my sister State of Tennessee introduced his proposal. I thought surely then we might expect some relief for the American taxpayers and for the American workmen. and information for the American people.
