C. DEAR MR. SHAUGHNESSY: House Resolution 6391. authorizing the deportation of criminals and certain other aliens. has been given careful consideration. I am of the opinion that the bill. as It now stands. should be enacted by Congress. It provides for a wider discretion in the Secretary with respect to the more humane treatment of aliens on limited stay in this country. and. at the same time. enlarges the statutory grounds for deporting objectionable aliens. As the bill provides that quotas under existing laws shall not be disturbed. we think that the objectives of this bill are praiseworthy and I am glad to give it our endorsement. Very truly yours.
