They came in illegally. it is true. but they are now good. respectable residentsnot citizens but residents. They have their family ties. little children who axe dependent upon them. Although in strict justice they should. perhaps. be deported. yet if we are to temper justice with mercy. if we are to demonstrate a little human kindness in the treatment of these poor little children. if not of their parents. certainly we in this great country of ours. which has throughout the generations been the refuge of people who are in need of assistance. can give aid to these people who are in need. and can show mercy on the part of this great Government. which will enable them to support their families. the wives and children who are American citizens. Certainly. we should show some mercy in these cases.
