Session #74 · 1935–37

Speech #740075659

The gentleman from New York mentioned the foreign element having been brought into the United States and into New England to work in our mills. I thought he spoke in a rather disparaging manner in that regard and as if immigrants to the United States. who came to this great land of the free and the home of the brave. had no right to go to New England and had no right to work in the textile industry. I want to say that in the city of Lawrence we have 43 nationalities represented. Those people and their sons and daughters are some of the finest American citizens that you can find any place in the United States of America.
