By reason of the added restrictions on immigration we have increased smuggling of aliens. and unless these aliens are picked up in time and sent back at the expense of the transportation companies which brought them here. they will be picked up later on and sent back at the expense of the Government. I served in the Immigration Service some 25 years ago and have had some experience. I know this is not economy. because the smuggling will increase. we will have more trouble on our hands. and it is more costly to send the aliens back if they are found to be in the United States unlawfully than to catch them at the time of entry and deport them immediately.
