I want to call the attention of the Senate to some remarks made here in my absence by the distinguished Senator from Pennsylvania which I can not allow to go unchallenged. On page 13010 of the RECORD of June 15. 1932. the appointment of Mr. Burguieres. of New Orleans. to be commissioner of immigration. was considered by the Senate. that is. it was reported by the committee for confirmation. Among some remarks which were passed on the floor of the Senate. the Senator from Utah -and I wish to thank him very kindly at this timementioned the fact that I had appeared before -the committee and had objected to the confirmation of Mr. Burguieres for personal reasons and for the reason that he was obnoxious to the labor people of my State.
