Speech #720027956

Chairman and gentlemen of the committee. I rise to advance a thought or two to the members of this committee and to the Members of the House relating to the deficit in our Public Treasury. which in a great way is stopping the progress of the machinery of this Government. As chairman of the Committee on Immigration I have had occasion to go through certain hearings pertaining to aliens who have entered the United States. I am. referring particularly to the movie stars who are imported by the big film companies in Hollywood. I am informed that there are as many as 100 or more who have in the last 10 years taken from the public of the United States millions of dollars. and they have not been taxed any more than an American citizen.
