It will not cost anything. because deportation proceedings are .going on constantly. as the Senator knows. and he and I both approve of them. This would simply add to facilities for detecting illegal entries and the deportation system would not be changed in any way. It may require a little closer scrutiny of vessels when they come in. but I doubt whether it will require the hiring of an additional man. Now. Mr. President. I ask that my amendment may be stated. I have discussed it with the Senator from Minnesota . and he tells me that. with the suggested addition to section 3 of the bill. he is entirely satisfied with it.
