Mr. Speaker. under leave to extend my remarks on the Hudson border patrol act of 1930. which will probably come up for consideration on the floor of the House in the near future. I wish to point out certain additional objections to the proposed measure. Those arguing for the bill fully realize the terrific outburst of indignation of the American people against cruel and unusual punishments and the severely restrictive laws advocated or placed on the statute books by the AntiSaloon League and radical prohibitionists. Therefore. they try to dodge the onus of this measure that it is primarily a prohibition measure. by claiming that it is not. and they try to emphasize it as enforcement of immigration. customs. narcotics. and other laws.
