Session #71 · 1929–31

Speech #710218958

Mr. President. a few (lays ago we had under consideration when the calendar was called House bill 10960. to alnend the law relative to citizenship and naturalization of married women. and for other purposes. Quite a good many amendmtents were reported to that bill by the Senate committee. and the bill was passed over. I wrote a letter to the Secretary of Labor asking his views with reference to the proposed legislation. It appears that he was not before the committee. and the committee did not have his views in regard to the bill. I have received a letter from the Acting Secretary of Labor pointing out his objections to the different provisions of the bill as it is proposed to amend it.
