Session #71 · 1929–31

Speech #710182645

Mr. President. yesterday. when the Senate voted on the amendment I offered reducing the quota from 11/2 to 1 per cent. it was before the national origins amendment had been voted on. Now. we have to change that. and I have offered an amendment by which we will allow. for the next three years. 120.000 immigrants. as provided under the amendment of the Senator from South Dakota . and after that. 81.000. as provided under the national origins act. I ask to have the amendment stated by the clerk. I do not believe there will be any objection to it.
