For many years this trade went to Europe. partly because the United States did not appeal as did some of the European countries. The lack of appeal was due to many causes. but they have been largely swept aside. and this. as well as the World War. served to give Mexico confidence in American business. This confidence would be lost. of course. if a drastic immigration policy were adopted contrary to the wishes of the people of Mexico and as an affront to their pride. The attention of the Senate is invited to a table which appears in the 1929 edition of the Yearbook of the Department of Commerce. I ask that the table may be inserted in the RECORD.
