Session #71 · 1929–31

Speech #710172399

Mr. President. the Senator from Georgia has stated that one of the principal reasons for the introduction of this bill was in order to relieve unemployment in this country. He has referred to immigration from Mexico. but not to immigration from any of the South or Central American countries. The question of immigration from Mexico. I understand. is to be treated at length by the Senator from Arizona . and therefore. Mr. President. I shall confine myself to the effect of this bill on unemployment in this country. and. in that connection. with the general subject of Pan Americanism. It is my belief.
