A French vessel came sailing up the Mississippi River having aboard 500 Italian immigrants. There was yellow fever in New Orleans. and New Orleans bad been put under quarantine. The quarantine officer went down the river. boarded the vessel. and told the commander that under the law of Louisiana he could not come into port.
