After all. in these days of tariff revision and protection of American industry. it is natural and logical that Americas greatest and most profitable industry should be reserved to citizens of the United States. The gentleman states that there are thousands of bootleggers. Of course. we have not had the benefit of the Census Bureau in classifying these bootleggers as to citizens and noncitizens. but again I want to point out to the House and to repeat at the risk of becoming tiresome. that you would not have thousands of bootleggers if you did not have millions of drinkers. It is because of the great demand for liquor that you have this large number of bootleggers. Just how the gentleman from Georgia is going to differentiate between the alien bootlegger and the native consumer.
