Speech #700171208

of Michigan. The gentleman suggests that at the end of the time of their temporary visit they may be deported if they remain over that length of time. I have suggested to the House that almost 2.000 people have been admitted to the United States or ordered admitted under court procedure under this loophole recently discovered. There are 2.000 already in. for the Department of Labor to try to keep track of. in the 3.000 miles that span this country from ocean to ocean. with the right to go to any part of it at any time they see fit under this court proceeding. and it seems tolthe committee. or to most of the committee. that it is better to stop the practice at the border than to try to hunt up the socalled " travelers that have been admitted after the six months have expired.
