In addition to these bills a large number of resolutions were introduced. It is difficult to realize the vast amount of work that comes to the attention of the average Congressman every day. I mean by this statement not only the legislation which has to be considered in the committees and in the House of Representatives but also the many personalservice requests which arrive in every mailrequests for assistance in pension cases. compensation claims. civilservice examinations. immigration and passport matters. appointments to West Point and Annapolis. pardon cases. recommendations for transfer. furnishing of publications. especially Indian matters from my district. and innumerable minor matters. all of which enable the Congressman to be of service to his constituents. This report is submitted with the hope that it will stimulate thought and a deeper responsibility relative to the work of Congress. and enable you to some extent determine to what degree I have represented you. During the session I have not been absent from any of the important roll calls.
