Session #70 · 1927–29

Speech #700059726

President. I hope the Senator will withdraw his objection. I do not think there is any question about my position on immigration. I think everybody pretty well understands that if I had my way every man who was not an American citizen. within the limits allowed by law. would be sent out of this country. and I would not allow any more to come in here for some time to come. That is my position on immigration. But I am amember of the committee. and the chairman has well stated that it is almost impossible to act intelligently on certain bills now before the committee until the department can furnish further information. and that is why the unanimous consent was given to report the chairmans resolution and ask for its passage.
