Session #69 · 1925–27

Speech #690214531

I simply want to say to the gentlemen of the committee that I introduced a bill which is under consideration before the Immigration Committee which provided that these eight or nine thousand people who are entitled to come in. but did not avail themselves of that privilege. .the Department of Labor can use these unused quota numbers to relieve such cases of undue hardship as they may determine ought to be taken care of. I submit that measure ought to be considered on the ground that it takes care immediately of the unused quota numbers for the purpose of uniting families and does not necessitate a wait of two years for their families to be taken care of.
