From the Committee to Audit and Control the Contingent Expenses of the Senate I report back favorably without anendment the resolution (S. Res. 186) authorizing the Committee oil Immigration to employ a stenographer and hold hearings. I ask unanimous consent for the present consideration of the resolution. The resolution (S. Res. 186) submitted by the Senator from California on the 29th ultimo was read. considered by unanimous consent. and agreed to. as follows: Resolved. That the Committee on Immigration. or any subcommittee thereof. be. and hereby is. authorized during the Sixtyninth Congress to send for persons. books. and papers. to administer oaths. and to employ a stenographer. at a cost not exceeding 25 cents per hundred words. to report such hearings as may be had in connection with ally subject which may be before said committee. the expenses thereof to be paid out of the contingent fund of the Senate. and that the committee. or any subcommittee thereof. may sit during the sessions or recesses of the Senate.
