The Secretary of State has indicated in a letter to ine that lie will need money in connection with the enforcement of the immigration law. There will be a good many things in connection with that law for which money will be needed. It is a matter that is referred to the Committee on Appropriiioiis. ad tlhe committee will be able to coordinate the appropriations. and they will also be able to ascertain what compensation is going to be paid for the different classes of work that is to be entered upon. Whereas if we put this money into the bill now without any restriction. the department can use it for any purpose it sees fit. for anything they like to pay. or anything that lhey want to do.
