It is worthy to note that in this world today there is no longer a country wherein the king governs with the autocratic power of the days of the foundation of this country. The peoples of all of the countries who were subject to the tyrannic dictation of these rulers sought refuge here and helped to make this country great. It is not for me to say which country or which class of immigrants contributed most. If we did so as a body. if we undertook to say the English or the German is most desirable. or the Slav or the Pole is the least desirable. we would immediately destroy the regard which all have for our equity. There could not be an agreement in this instance. and as in any organization. private. business. or political. the first sign of decay is disagreement among the members.
